LEGISLATORS accused the Government of failing to ensure the huge trucks on the airport construction sites were driven by trained workers. The South China Morning Post revealed yesterday that unqualified workers without standard licences were driving the trucks. Assistant Commissioner for Labour Mak Sai-yiu said two of the four accidents on airport sites last month were related to workers driving big trucks. Both drivers were foreign workers, and one had had two days' training. United Democrat legislator Michael Ho Mun-ka said there was no way of checking whether a worker was qualified to handle heavy vehicles. ''Workers might be driving a heavy dump truck after two hours of training because their boss said they've got enough training,'' he said.
