A SHAMED father-of-two who earned thousands of dollars as a pimp for a 14-year-old girl was jailed for two years and four months yesterday.

     Chan Yim-shing, 41, was told by a District Court judge he had sunk to the ''depths of depravity'' by profiting from the teenager's prostitution.

     Judge Chua said: ''It makes one shake one's head in disbelief that a man with a daughter of 10 can live off the earnings of a prostitute who could so easily have been his daughter.

     ''The most aggravating factor of the case is that he knew she was only 14 at the time.''      Chan, an estate agent, admitted living off the earnings of prostitution and claiming to be a member of a triad society.

     He denied procuring a woman under the age of 21 and attempting to pervert the course of justice, and the prosecution offered no evidence.

     Prosecutor Joseph Yau said Chan had met the girl at an amusement arcade in Mongkok on January 14 last year, where he had told her he belonged to a triad society.

   A week later he had taken her to the Ming Yan karaoke bar in Sun Hing Building, Mongkok, and told her to tell anyone who wanted to have sex with her that they would have to pay him $800. One customer had paid Chan and taken her to an upstairs room, where they had had sex. Chan had paid the girl $400.

     She had then been taken to an apartment house nearby and again had been paid $400 to have sex. Later that night she had had sex with a third man.

     Over the next 25 days, until February 15, Chan had arranged clients for her and shared the proceeds. On February 20, she had been found by police, who had her listed as a missing person.

     Chan was arrested on May 31 trying to enter China through Lowu immigration control point.

     Lambert Lee, defending, said: ''Chan feels very ashamed of what he has done. He found it difficult to face his children.''      But Judge Chua said: ''This is sinking to the depths of depravity to live off the prostitution of a girl who is merely a child.''     After calling the girl into court, Judge Chua remarked how tiny she was, but said she did not seem ''too badly affected by the experience''.
