JAPAN'S biggest construction company, SHIMIZU CORP, said yesterday its pre-tax earnings declined 10 per cent from a year earlier to 120 billion yen (about HK$8.82 billion) in the year to March.
The company said revenue dropped four per cent to 2.09 trillion yen and forecast a sharply lower profit of 50 billion yen for this year with revenue sliding further to about 1.8 trillion yen. CONSTRUCTION company TAISEI CORP said yesterday its pre-tax earnings dropped 28 per cent from a year earlier to 73 billion yen in the year to March.
The company said revenue fell 6.5 per cent to 1.85 trillion yen.
For this year, Taisei forecast a further decline in earnings to 33 billion yen on lower revenue of 1.55 trillion yen.
CONSTRUCTION company OBAYASHI CORP said yesterday its pre-tax earnings dropped 18 per cent from a year earlier to 57.7 billion yen in the year to March.
But the company said revenue rose seven per cent to 1.63 trillion yen.
For this year, Obayashi forecast an even smaller profit of 42 billion yen on lower sales of 1.45 trillion yen. THE country's biggest real-estate developer MITSUI FUDOSAN CO said yesterday pre-tax earnings plunged 36 per cent from a year earlier to 16.4 billion yen in the year to March.
