A TOPSY-turvy week ended on a distinctly upbeat note for jockey Declan Murphy at the Macau Canidrome on Saturday night.
Murphy, pin-up boy at Taipa racecourse, was partially successful in an appeal against a three-day Stewards' suspension, having it reduced to two days but was on the sidelines officially after yesterday's Macau Jockey Club meeting.
But Murphy, along with trainer-brother Joe and leading owner Stephen Ng, were on course to watch their recently-purchased The Wheel win her third race on the trot and move into Class One.
The Wheel is an ultra-game black bitch who was winning for the first time over 525 yards having previously scored two straight over 350 yards and 490 yards, fully vindicating the decision to buy her six weeks ago.
The Wheel has had five starts and finished second on her debut, then placed third before starting her recent winning run.
The bitch is named after the top-rated Taipa galloper raced by Ng and, in the care of the Murphys, has won a string of good races.
