FOR many people, the world of travel is bewildering. With around 800 airlines offering more the 650,000 flights across the globe annually, the necessary information is hard to track.

Official Airline Guides (OAG), a subsidiary of the Reed Travel Group, which claims to be the world's leading clearing house of travel and travel-related data, aims to put the necessary information in comprehensible form into the end-users' hands.

The Reed Travel Group is showcasing its range of travel-related products at its display at the International Travel Expo '94 (ITE).

Prominent among these will be the new OAG Desktop Flight Guide Worldwide Edition.

This edition, available from next month, includes an additional 250,000 flight schedules.

Other enhancements include an improved ''How to Use'' section with an easier-to-read format; a global price information supplement that provides complete worldwide direct fare information on a monthly basis; expanded flight listing information with new time-zone indicators; airport indicators for multiple airport cities; and meal service information. ''OAG is committed to making global flight planning as convenient as possible,'' said Bob Brindley, OAG's director of product marketing.
