Making waves . . . Ferries and other shipping were forced to give way yesterday as 300 trawlers from Cheung Chau blockaded Victoria Harbour in a protest over compensation for the 2,000 fishermen affected by the dumping of mud in their fishing grounds. The three-hour sail-by began at 10 am in the Western district. The boats cruised slowly to Shau Kei Wan before returning on the same route, forcing the suspension or disruption of regular cross-harbour, outlying island and Macau ferry services. Marine Department launches flanked the flotilla but took no action against some of its breaches of regulations. in one of the world's busiest ports.
