CONSERVATIVE forces in Chinese politics are plotting an anti-rightist campaign whose ultimate target might be patriarch Deng Xiaoping.
Since April, several of the official newspapers and journals controlled by leftists or Maoists have run articles critical of ''bourgeois liberals'' or the new ''exploiting'' class of private entrepreneurs.
A leftist mouthpiece that has gone the distance is Seeking Truth, which began its diatribes against Mr Deng's reforms last year.
In its April issue, the magazine ran commentaries and articles that called for a new anti-rightist movement.
Seeking Truth said the rightists would eventually wreak havoc on the country because they were compromising its socialist nature.
The journal has also run stories about how genuine proletariats have been ripped-off by the beneficiaries of the reform era - unscrupulous businessmen who exploit their workers or take advantage of gullible consumers.
