BARBRA DELAYS SHOWS
BARBRA Streisand's immediate tour plans are in doubt after she postponed three more scheduled shows in Anaheim, California, because of inflamed vocal cords.
The entertainer's opening show in Anaheim has now been set for Thursday. The four cancelled concerts have been rescheduled for mid-July.
It was not only run-of-the-mill Barbra maniacs who had looked forward to the opening, her first paid performance in southern California in 28 years, but also several Hollywood celebrities including Dustin Hoffman, Tom Hanks, Shirley MacLaine and Rob Reiner.
With her tour hitting only a handful of major American cities, many Streisand fans had to use holiday time and fly to southern California to hear her.
''I feel terrible that these postponements may cause severe scheduling problems for so many of my fans, who have waited so long for me to perform live,'' Streisand said in a statement.
Her manager, Marty Erlichman, said if she attempted to perform before next Thursday, the viral tracheolaryngitis could cause permanent damage to her vocal chords.
