THE rape ordeal of a mentally handicapped woman, whose case was thrown out of the High Court last year because she was too distressed to give evidence, is being turned into a Category III film.

The film, financed by Kimmy Shuen King-on, of the Martini Film Co Ltd, will be the last episode of a trilogy. The three movies are all based on real and controversial court cases from last year.

Daughter Of Darkness dealt with a woman who suffered a mental breakdown after being raped by her father, leading her to kill her family. Brother Of Darkness told the story about the killing of an elder brother by a sibling who witnessed his sexual liaisons.

The two movies - which have already been screened - were both Category III, for audiences aged 18 or over.

The final film, tentatively titled Defective Of Darkness, will be in the same category, according to Mr Shuen.

''I think there's a need to do so. It's a rape case. And we should have scenes of it,'' he said.

Shooting of the film began this week. It is based on a High Court case last September, when a 22-year-old slightly mentally handicapped woman was allegedly raped by a 55-year-old colleague. The case finally went to court but the alleged victim became distressed under cross-examination.
