CATHAY Pacific and Vietnam airlines will operate an additional two joint-venture services between Hong Kong and Ho Chi Minh City from this Thursday.
The new services, which depart Hong Kong late in the evening on a Tuesday and Saturday, will augment the current daily service to and from Ho Chi Minh.
They will be operated by Cathay Pacific Tristar L1011 aircraft and crew, and Cathay Pacific will now operate six of the nine weekly flights.
BRITISH Rail has put together a group of package plans aimed at independent travellers seeking to explore familiar British themes.
Among them are ''Culturally London,'' focusing on museums and art galleries; ''Showtime London,'' spotlighting the London theatre; ''BritCity'' tours in which half the trip is in London, half elsewhere; and ''BritTheme'' tours built around special interests such as cathedrals, secret gardens and medieval castles. HONG Kong-based New World Hotels International is offering summer packages in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou and Xian from now until August 31.
The lowest rate is US$75 for a standard room in Xian, and the highest, US$148.50 for a deluxe room in Shanghai. All rates are subject to a 15 per cent surcharge.
