I REFER to Karin Arsan's letter headlined, ''Polluted air'' (South China Morning Post, May 5).

  The operator of Green Minibus (GMB) Route 8 has been directed to remind his drivers of turning off their engines while waiting at the terminus. Regarding the provision of shelter facilities at the existing GMB stand near Star Ferry, I regret that due to site constraints, it is not feasible to construct a proper shelter there.

  Nonetheless, although not ideal, the existing canopies at the GMB stand do provide a form of shelter for waiting passengers.
