INTERNATIONAL distributor of electronic components Arrow Electronics has acquired Hong Kong-based Texny (Holdings).

The amount paid for the acquisition was not revealed yesterday.

Texny, also an electronic components distributor, posted annual sales last year of about US$50 million and holds the distribution franchises for National Semiconductor and Texas Instruments.

''Our acquisition of Texny significantly enhances our position in the important markets of the Pacific Rim, which are the fastest growing electronics markets in the world,'' said Arrow chairman and chief executive Stephen Kaufman.

''Coupled with our acquisition of Components Agent last year, this transaction firmly establishes the Arrow companies in a position of pre-eminence in the Asian marketplace.'' Arrow, with global sales of US$2.8 billion in 1993, acquired Components Agent, a Hong Kong electronics distributor, last year as part of its strategy to build up a worldwide network.
