Restaurant cleans up its video act following outcry
SEXY women have been replaced by sportsmen in the men's toilets of LA Cafe as the management ensures it will comply with Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority (TELA) regulations.
The restaurant, at the Lippo Centre in Admiralty, was investigated by TELA after the Sunday Morning Post revealed it was showing pornographic videos on monitors above the men's urinals in the evenings.
News of the videos sparked anger among family welfare groups, which protested that it was an inappropriate setting for videos with a strong sexual content, especially as there were no restrictions on children eating in the bar and restaurant.
Now the restaurant is even sending its sports videos to TELA for approval before showing them on its monitors, according to Terry Leung, the managing director.
''We have sent the tapes to TELA for censorship,'' he said yesterday. ''We send them to ensure that there are no problems and try to show those tapes that have obtained approval. We are being on the safe side.''
