A WAITER who sexually abused his stepdaughter regularly for two years, beginning when she was 12, was jailed yesterday for six years.
The court heard the girl was abused while her brother slept in the same room.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, began abusing the girl after he formed a relationship with her mother and moved into her home.
Richard Donald, prosecuting, told the High Court the abuse came to light only when the girl, a devout Christian, complained to her Bible tutor.
The 45-year-old defendant admitted two sample counts of attempted rape and one sample count of indecent assault between August 1991 and August last year.
Passing sentence, Deputy Judge Wilson said: ''The girl did not resist because she was frightened.
