Changes after Kai Tak mishap
COCKPIT warning systems on seven Dragonair planes are to be corrected after it was discovered wrong information caused the emergency landing at Kai Tak two weeks ago.
The Airbus A320 was forced to abort two attempts at landing in bad weather before landing heavily and skidding off the runway on June 6.
A spokesman for manufacturer Airbus Industrie said yesterday all 46 airlines that used the plane had been notified of the problem and their pilots told to ignore certain warnings until the system could be corrected.
He said the company would quickly input revised warning information to ensure there was no repeat of the Kai Tak accident.
The Civil Aviation Department is believed to be satisfied that the Dragonair A320 does not pose a safety risk after tests on the airline's seven Airbuses.
However, no one was able to comment while the investigation is still officially continuing.
