$2,000 fine over pinch

A MAN who pinched a woman's bottom was fined $2,000 for indecent assault in Western Court yesterday.

Casual worker Johnson Ip Chiu-sing, 21, pleaded not guilty to indecently assaulting the 34-year-old woman in Lower Albert Road, Central, on March 29.

He was convicted by Magistrate Paul Kelly and ordered to pay $750 costs.

The woman told the court that Ip walked past her on the pavement and grabbed her bottom. He kept his hand there for about two seconds.

The woman stopped Ip and reported the matter to the police, the court was told.

Under caution, Ip denied the offence and claimed that the victim was touched by his bag and not his hand.
