A GROUP of police criticised by a High Court judge for slipshod interview techniques and a failure to attend court face the sack as a result of a police inquiry into their behaviour.
Sources say that if the allegations are proven it will almost certainly result in their automatic dismissal.
Concern over the conduct was made known to senior police during the six-week trial of Lam Wing-wah - who was sentenced on Monday to four years' jail for controlling a girl for prostitution - and an initial inquiry was conducted by their superiors.
The interim report detailing the actions of up to six constables will be passed today from the New Territories North Region to the Complaints Against Police Office (CAPO).
All the officers are based at Yuen Long.
A police spokesman said the allegations were extremely serious and cast a dark cloud over the image of law enforcement.
It is understood Lam, 42, will be interviewed by CAPO over claims he was assaulted in police custody, an allegation which only emerged during evidence in court.
