A COALITION of seven labour and human rights groups will today protest outside a Yuen Long company believed to be controlled by a Hong Kong partner of the collapsed Yu Xin factory in Zhuhai.
The groups said a registry of foreign investors in Guangdong listed the Yu Xin factory as a joint venture between the Qianshan Industrial Company and a Macau textile company.
Yu Xin's managing director was named as Chan Yue-fai.
The registry, published last year, showed 80 per cent of the factory's products were for export, with the remainder for domestic sale.
Unionists said they found out through sources that Mr Chan also controlled local company Yue Fung Group, which has an office on the top floor of the eight-storey Yue Fung Industrial Building in Yuen Long.
They believe Mr Chan also operates factories in other southern China cities.
