Last goodbye to beloved school
OVER 400 graduates and former students of the Tin Kwong Road Government Secondary School (TKRSS) said goodbye for the last time to their alma mater at a touching closing ceremony, held recently.
The school closes on August 31, and starts a new life in Tin Shui Wai as the Tin Shui Wai Government Secondary School.
The farewell party cum closing ceremony was the idea of a group of alumni who wished to say thank you to the principals, teachers and staff who had guided them over the past 12 years. It was also an occasion for recently graduated students to get together.
The party included a ''fashion show'' that traced the school uniform and how it had changed over the years, a teacher-student ''sharing session'', a ''You and TKRSS'' election, a lucky draw and a closing ceremony.
The ''You and TKRSS'' votes picked the most popular teacher, the best teacher, the best-looking teachers and students, and the longest serving staff members.
Chinese University student Jacqueline Li Yuen-kwan, who was chief organiser of the event, said the get-together had received full support from graduates and teachers.
''They helped with the organising, contributed to expenses and donated gifts for the party.'' Recalling her days at TKRSS, Jacqueline said the school was small but the students were ''very united''.
