I REFER to the letter by Edward T. Lee, President of the Hong Kong Chiropractors' Association, (South China Morning Post, June 23).

He claimed that he did not want to be mistaken as a medical practitioner but he went on to claim to be a primary contact physician, which is defined as a person qualified to practise both internal medicine and surgery in the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary.
As a chiropractor is a person who treats disease by manipulating the joints (especially spinal column), he is not qualified to practise internal medicine and surgery, nor is he entitled to the label of medical practitioner-physician.
