MALAYSIA Airlines is launching twice-weekly direct flights from Hong Kong to Penang with turnaround the same day.

The flights will operate Tuesdays and Fridays, starting this Friday, departing Hong Kong at 4.45 in the afternoon. The return flights will leave Penang at 11.55 am local time.

THOMAS Cook and British Airways have combined to offer travellers cheque users prizes in an Asia-wide draw. They include business class return flights to London, lunch at the Houses of Parliament, and a chauffered tour of London in a Rolls-Royce.

Anyone who buys more than US$500-worth of Thomas Cook MasterCard travellers cheques from now to August 31 will be able to enter the draw. Other prizes include business class return tickets to Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Manila, Taipei and Bangkok. IF you are planning a holiday in Britain this summer, the Great British Heritage Pass may prove useful. The pass covers the cost of visiting more than 500 of Britain's finest historic properties.

With your pass you will receive a heritage atlas, which plots all the properties in the scheme.
