CHINA'S first outdoor, electronic colour video display screen was launched last week in Shenzhen.
Situated in the main square opposite the railway hotel, the 108-square-metre ''Giantscreen'' is a joint venture between the Zhengzhou Central China Display Laboratories (CCDL), the Shenzhen Economic Daily and Sino Video Display Advertising.
The companies are partners in Shenzhen Window Advertising Ltd, and are responsible for technical support, broadcasting operations and advertising sales, respectively.
There are eight advertising packages, each with optional durations and frequencies.
Prices begin at $240 per spot for 250 screenings of 15 seconds each. They rise to $43,000 multiplied by the number of screenings for a 20-minute programme at a specified time and date.
Advertisers need only provide television commercials on Betacam SP tape, or U-Matic 3/4-inch tape. The minimum advertising period is five weeks, with 10 screenings daily.
The ''Giantscreen'' was designed by CCDL president Li Chao.
