Chance to study abroad

STUDENTS are invited to apply for a number of fellowships and scholarships to go on overseas studies for the academic year 1995-96.

The Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund Council said the aim was to encourage the best students to pursue further education in reputable institutions overseas. Successful candidates are expected to have a strong sense of commitment to Hong Kong and be ready to contribute significantly to the community upon their return.

They will be required to work in Hong Kong for at least three years upon graduation.

The fellowships are for studies leading to postgraduate degrees and the scholarships are for undergraduate studies leading to first degrees.

The fellowship is about $193,000 a year for up to two years and the scholarship about $176,000 a year for up to three years.

Application forms are available at the Student Financial Assistance Agency (9/F, National Mutual Centre, 151 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai) and the Education Department (Careers and Guidance Services Section), Room 206, Mongkok Government Offices, 30 Luen Wan Street, Mongkok, Kowloon.
