I AM a teetotaller, and a nondescript one at that. But even if I were a yuppie and a hunk of a San Miguel-drinker, I would now have switched to other brands, thanks to the new San Miguel television commercial being aired.
While I am too worldly a person to object to the pleasures of the flesh which the commercial rather artistically and suggestively portrays, I find the inclusion of a portrait of Dr Sun Yat-sen blatantly insensitive.
Let me hasten to add that any ethnicity is not the cause of my displeasure. To me, the image of Dr Sun, like that of Britain's Winston Churchill and the US's Abraham Lincoln, should never be commercially exploited.
I don't know about the beer, but the commercial in question certainly suggests bad taste.
