MORE than 40,000 primary school students may be disappointed tomorrow when they learn they have been denied their first choice of a secondary school. However, almost an equal number will be granted their first choice. The Education Department announced that 85,263 students had been allocated Secondary One places as part of this year's Secondary School Places Allocation Exercise. This included 42,286 students who were allocated places of their first choice. Of the total number, 72 per cent were granted places within their first three choices.
