A GRANDMOTHER who had to give up her job after she was crushed between two buses launched a High Court fight for damages yesterday. Chan Si-mui, 63, was knocked unconscious when she became trapped between a tourist bus and a public light bus. Charles Wong, representing Mrs Chan, said the accident happened when coach driver Kong Hung-keung struck her as he tried to overtake the minibus in Chun Wah Road, Kowloon, on October 8, 1989. Mrs Chan, a hostel cleaner who was earning about $4,000 a month at the time, was left with a fractured shoulder and chest injuries. The grandmother is suing Mr Kong and his employers Kwun Tong Transport Co Ltd and Teh Foong Transport Co Ltdfor damages for medical treatment and lost earnings. The hearing is before Mr Justice Jerome Chan.
