A TRAINEE manager of a fast food shop who claimed to be an ICAC undercover agent to impress his fiancee was yesterday fined $2,000.
Tsang Man-chi said he acted out of love, but Western Court heard that his fiancee disappeared 10 days before they were due to be married.
Tsang, 26, admitted two counts of pretending to be an Independent Commission Against Corruption officer.
Magistrate Ian Candy said Tsang was foolish, but accepted he had no evil intention.
The court heard that Chue Ching-ting and Tsang formed a close relationship while working at a fast food shop in Central. Tsang told her he had been a senior investigator with the ICAC's Operations Department for five years.
When she asked for proof of his work, he told her even the ICAC did not have his particulars, because of the sensitive nature of his work.
