A MAN who claims police assaulted him after mistaking him for a member of a gang during a shootout at Kam Tin three years ago has filed a writ with the Supreme Court. Wong Fuk-sang, 37, is suing the Commissioner of Police for damages for personal injuries and for false imprisonment. Mr Wong was a musical equipment salesman when the incident took place. It is Mr Wong's case that the police assault took place at his home in Shui Tau village, Kam Tin, on the morning of July 27, 1991. He is also claiming damages for false imprisonment, which, according to his statement of claim, occurred on the same day in the custodial ward of Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
