THE Kowloon Central Library re-opened last week with fully computerised facilities.
It is the Urban Council's fifth computerised public library, following the Lai Chi Kok Public Library, the Electric Road Public Library, the City Hall Public Library, and Tsz Wan Shan Public Library.
The library automation project, when completed next year, will enable readers to use a single library card to borrow and return items at any Urban Council library.
Readers can also search the entire collection in any computerised library by using the on-line public access catalogue.
The next libraries to go on-line will be the Aberdeen Public Library, closed till July 21 for bar-coding work, and the Yau Ma Tei Public Library, which will be closed from July 22 to August 11.
Those who wish to apply for a new computerised library card can go to any Urban Council public library for registration, bringing along a proof of home address.
