Rise for carers

HEALTH workers in residential care homes for the elderly are to receive higher salaries for the better training expected of them under a law imposing stricter control of those homes. The package is also to attract more people to fill the increasing number of posts, which in the long run should be filled by trained nurses.

The workers will get between $9,395 and $14,935.
