Singing tribute to a friend beyond

SINGERS and deejays got together to give a concert in memory of Beyond's Wong Ka-kui, paying tribute to an artiste who did so much for music in Hong Kong.

The show, ''Wish You Happiness - Ka-kui Creative Concert'', was held recently at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium. It was co-organised by Ultimate 903 Commercial Radio II and Rock in Record (Hong Kong) Co Ltd.

The hosts were Commercial Radio II disc jockeys Kwok Kai-wah and Wong Chi-chung. The guest performers came from China, Hong Kong and Singapore. They included Emil Chau, Alex To, Anthony Wong, Bobby Chen Seng, Chao Chuan, Chyi Yu, Lo Kwun-ting and Dick Lee.

The pop band Beyond was present, singing their latest numbers as well as their golden hits, such as Really Love You, Vast Land and Walled City.

It seemed as if the spirit of the late Wong Ka-kui hovered over the show, conferring a blessing. It was a wistful, deeply touching concert.

Beyond's three artistes seemed to reach right out to their departed member when they sang ''Wish You Happiness'' and ''Faraway Paradise''.
