HONG KONG shipowners who need to have the condition of their vessels' engines analysed now have access to the services of a leading US oil analysis company.
Virginia-based Analytical Services and Materials (AS&M) has appointed Electech Services as its Hong Kong representative.
AS&M is one of the three international companies specialising in the analysis of fuel, hydraulic and lubricating oils for the marine industry.
Electech marketing manager G.P. Singh said ship owners would make cost savings from the service.
Based on oil samples, AS&M would advise an owner of the condition of his ship's engine and the precautionary measures required to prolong the engine's life.
A feature of AS&M's service is the Engine Friendliness Number (EFN), providing an important benchmark of fuel quality, which gives an indication of the engine's condition.
