New OLI campus to get top facilities

CONSTRUCTION of the new premises of the Open Learning Institute (OLI) is going full steam ahead following the recent appointment of a local construction company for its superstructure in Good Shepherd Street, Ho Man Tin.

Dickson Construction Company aims to complete the construction by November next year.

OLI's present headquarters in Mongkok has 4,470 square metres of rented space in the Trade Department Tower. The OLI's new campus will be a twin-tower structure resting on a podium and forming an airy atrium.

It will have 12 floors and a total of 18,950 square metres of gross built-up area.

Upon completion in 1996, the new campus will triple the current space of the OLI.

It will offer expanded office space, additional computer and laboratory facilitates, a fully-equipped lecture theatre and a learning resource centre consisting of a library, a study centre, an audio-visual centre, a language laboratory and a disabled students resource centre.
