FORMER England under-21 striker Gary Bannister and Norwich City goalkeeper Mark Walton, now both with Hong Kong club Rangers, will be facing old clubmates during the coming season.

Bannister and Walton are among five new Rangers players who arrived in the territory yesterday to boost the one-time Hong Kong champions.

And both Bannister, 33, and Walton, 25, will be relishing the new challenge as they face their former clubmates in the Eastern pair of goalkeeper Iain Hesford and Dale Tempest, last season's top scorer.

''Iain and I were clubmates at Sheffield Wednesday and for the England under-21 squad. I remember Iain very well. He saved a penalty when we played against Poland in a 2-1 win in 1981.

''It's a big challenge to play against him. I know he's a good 'keeper but I know there are many good 'keepers in Hong Kong. I haven't seen Iain for a long time so we have to wait and see what happens,'' said Bannister, who last played for English First Division side Stoke City.

The memories will be flooding back for Walton, who also has a connection with Tempest having played with the Eastern hotshot for English side Colchester United almost eight years ago.
