SECONDARY school graduates should learn more about international affairs whether they plan to continue their studies in the territory or go abroad.

This was the advice of Dr Leslie Lo Nai-kwai, dean of Faculty of Education of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, at the 10th speech day of Sha Tin Methodist College. The college had 200 Form Five and 80 Form Seven graduates this year.

Dr Lo was invited as the guest-of-honour to address the graduates and present the certificates and academic awards.

''Hong Kong is one of the world's most international cities. To succeed in the modern world, young people should be equipped with knowledge of local affairs as well as global issues,'' Dr Lo said.

''The world today needs young people with an international approach. Youths should achieve basic knowledge and understanding of international issues.'' Dr Lo added that young people should have an open mind and be receptive to new ideas. They should also have a positive attitude in order to develop their potential to the fullest.
