HONG KONG'S Commonwealth Games contingent was given a rousing send-off by A. de O. Sales, president of the Hong Kong Amateur Sports Federation and Olympic Committee (ASF & OC) at a reception last night. Hong Kong will be competing in their last Commonwealth Games in just over a fortnight's time in Victoria, British Columbia as the territory reverts to Chinese sovereignty in 1997. Sales hopes the territory will go out on a grand note. Sales said Hong Kong's 53 athletes should wear their Hong Kong blazers with pride. The ASF & OC send a contingent from the territory for a multi-sports event for the 32nd time. Sales said there was no one sport Hong Kong were expected to win medals and the territory could surprise like that of four years ago in Auckland when Chan Chi-choi and Amy Chan won the gold medal in the badminton mixed doubles event.
