WITH both local teams eliminated from the top prize of the Prince Asian Junior Badminton Invitational Final , eyes will be on today's cross-Straits clash between top seeds China and Taiwan at the Hong Kong Sports Institute. China beat Malaysia in yesterday's semi-finals to secure a place in the final, while Hong Kong 'A' were beaten by Taiwan and will now face Malaysia in the play-off for third place. The two teams met at the same stage in last year's competition in a match that Hong Kong won. Teams from seven countries have been battling in the Under-18 round-robin tournament which started on Monday. The territory's 'A' team cruised to the semi-finals, beating Macau and the Philippines 5-0, before losing 4-1 to Taiwan. Meanwhile. the 'B' team struggled against the competition's two leading seeds, losing 5-0 to both China and Malaysia. China and Taiwan, who have not met before, will be fighting for a first prize trophy and sports equipment provided by the competition's sponsors Prince.
