DUTCHMAN Marlon Van der Sander has a second chance to prove his worth in the territory after signing a one-year contract with Hong Kong First Division new boys Golden yesterday.
Angry that he had been sacked after four games with top club South China last season, Van der Sander said he would show the Caroliners what he is really made of.
''It was a bit of a let down for me last season,'' said the 32-year-old.
''I didn't really get a chance to prove my worth.'' Van der Sander said South China played him out of position - as a centre forward - even though he is a natural stopper.
The towering defender has reunited with his former teammates from South China - Hong Kong international Chiu Chung-man and Bosnian forward Alen Bajkusa - who have also joined Golden.
Golden boss Simon Wan Chi-lok said after their 2-1 victory over Kui Tan yesterday that the Dutchman will join his new clubmates in Vietnam tomorrow on a 10-day training stint.
