Couple has bail extended

THE employers of a maid who claimed she was gagged, bound and chopped last Sunday had their bail extended yesterday pending further inquiries.

The 48-year-old man and his 40-year-old wife, surnamed Wong, are to report back to Siu Lek Yuen police on August 19.

Bail was set at $1,000 each.

Police said they were awaiting results of forensic tests on the knife and a pathologist's report on the nature of the eight-centimetre wound to the woman's lower back.

The mother of the 20-year-old maid, Endang Riwayati, will also be questioned today to determine the ''character'' of her daughter.

Both the employers and the maid were re-interrogated by police yesterday.
