A PATIENT appeared in Western Court yesterday accused of assaulting a doctor in Queen Mary Hospital. Unemployed Chang Siu-yang, 29, faces a count each of common assault and of possessing an offensive weapon. No plea was taken. Chang is accused of possessing a 13-centimetre-long cutter in a nursing room on the sixth-floor of the hospital, with intent to use it for unlawful purposes, on Monday. She is also accused of assaulting Dr Poon Ting-keung in the hospital on the same day. Magistrate Mary Yuen adjourned the case until August 22, pending a psychiatric report to ascertain whether Chang is fit to plead. The court heard Chang had a history of suicide attempts.
