THE success of its palmtop computers has prompted Hewlett-Packard to announce its latest addition to the field: the HP 200LX.
HP is targeting the computer at finance professionals. It has a built-in version of Quicken for financial tracking, Lotus' cc:Mail and 1-2-3 in addition to standard DOS.
Other connectivity features include VT-100 emulation, Kermit and X-Y-Z modem support. An optional connectivity pack provides the ability to merge and synchronise files with a desktop machine, and includes LapLink Remote to access the 200LX from within desktop applications.
A plug-in memory card slot supports PCMCIA 2.0 standards, providing access to a range of third-party plug-in cards.
The new palmtop with two megabytes of RAM lists for $6,080. A one megabyte version costs $5,020.
