MANILA: The Philippine Government yesterday approved a grant of 10,000 pesos (HK$2,970), the maximum compensation allowed by law, for two Filipinos held without charge for 20 years who have been released by the Supreme Court.

Leonardo Paquinto and Jesus Cabangunay were jailed in 1974 as part of a security crackdown under martial law imposed by the late president Ferdinand Marcos in 1972.
