THE territory's newest multi-millionaire will confound some of Hong Kong's most affluent.

Chief Petty Officer Rohan Mitchell, 38, who does a shore-based job at the Royal Navy's Hong Kong base HMS Tamar, is different in two respects.

He is not about to advertise his record GBP2.26 million (HK$26.96 million) UK football pools win with a flashy sports car or a smart Hong Kong address.

And he definitely does not want any more money.

''This has caused enough to think about, and I'm a bit too tall for a Lotus,'' said Chief Petty Officer Mitchell, who has been thinking about buying a new Land-Rover and going to sea on a cruise ship for a change.

He is still trying to come to terms with the fact he need never work again.
