A BURGLAR who broke into a flat and stole instant noodles, biscuits and fruit was jailed in the District Court yesterday. Sentencing Chan Kwok-cheong to three years and four months' imprisonment, Judge Jackson said some of the stolen goods were of minimal value, which explained why the victims initially did not report the matter to police. Chan, 32, ransacked a flat in New Street, Central, after gaining access through a kitchen window. He stole a nylon bag and stuffed it with food when Chau Hon-chuen was asleep in the bedroom at 3.45 pm on May 19. Chan was arrested and admitted a total of six counts of burglary between January 3 and May 19. The total value of the stolen goods was $10,000.
