Winner's art gets worldwide attention

ASPIRING artists have the chance of a lifetime to display their talents before an international audience with an upcoming competition.

To coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Chinese edition of Reader's Digest , the Reader's Digest Association Far East is launching an art competition.

The grand prize winner will have the privilege of having his or her art grace the magazine's front cover, in addition to receiving a cash prize of $12,000. Four runners-up will each receive consolation prizes of Reader's Digest products worth about $600.

The contest has a local flavour, with participants being asked to depict local themes, be it landscape, typical events, traditions or folklore.

All works of art must be done using watercolour/Chinese ink, and should be submitted no later than November 1, in the form of a 4-inch x 5-inch photo or 35 mm slide to: The Anniversary Committee (Art Competition), Chinese Reader's Digest, 3 A Kung Ngam Village Road, Shau Kei Wan, Hong Kong.

Entrants must include their name, address, telephone number and age. All slides submitted to the anniversary committee are non-returnable.
