REUTER has introduced a service for subscribers offering historical and up-to-the-minute information on the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index.
The index consists of the 10 Chinese state-owned enterprises which have H shares currently listed on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong.
The service will be transmitted in Chinese and English. Historical information, backdated to July 1993, will allow subscribers to plot charts for market analysis.
''The index will provide a reliable barometer of the performance of the stocks as well as the prospects of China's industry sector as more state-owned firms decide to list in Hong Kong,'' said Reuters information products marketing manager Henry Ho.
Chinese companies currently covered by the index are: Tsingtao Brewery, Beiren Printing Machinery, Kunming Machine Tool, Guangzhou Shipyard International, Maanshan Iron and Steel, Shanghai Petrochemical, Yizheng Chemical Fibre, Tianjin Bohai Chemical Industry, Dongfang Electric and Luoyang Glass.
