I WOULD like to thank Ms Jane Tresidder for her response (South China Morning Post, July 11) to my letter published on July 6. I have nothing much to add to my earlier response. But I wish to clarify two points.

Reduction in the level of resource consumption is not just about non-renewable resources.

This should apply to recyclable or recycled products as well because the act of recycling itself involves consumption of resources such as energy.

Therefore, we would put minimisation of paper use as our first priority.

Our Green Manager Scheme will assist us in making sure that this priority is followed as closely as possible so that ''we teach by example''.

I should also reiterate that a proper life-cycle, cost-benefit analysis of recycled paper in the local context is necessary. This we are planning and will try our best to speed up the task.
