UNITED Parcel Service (UPS) has appointed Charles Adams regional vice-president for the company's operations in the fast-growing Asia Pacific region. He replaces John Fitzgerald who has retired after working with UPS for 37 years. KARL Hurst has joined the investment banking department of Nomura International (Hong Kong) Limited as executive director and head of capital markets. HONGKONG Bank has appointed Diccon Pullen as chief executive in India. He succeeds Gerry Dobby who has retired after 34 years with the bank. TELEGLOBE Canada has appointed David Wong as director of business development for the Asia Pacific. He will be based in Hong Kong. Mr Wong has worked in the broadcast and satellite communication industry since 1982, in both the US and Asia. He was previously Reuters TV sales and marketing manager for the Asia Pacific region. ACUCOBOL Inc, the developer, manufacturer and marketer of COBOL-based compilers and development tools, has appointed Kristian Bosanac as Asia/Pacific Rim regional manager in its Hong Kong office. She will be responsible for finding new business opportunities in the region. BANYAN Systems, Inc has appointed Andy Chen as director of marketing and channel sales for the Asia Pacific and Japan. Mr Chen will be based in Hong Kong and be responsible for marketing, channel sales and alliance partnerships within the region. INDOSUEZ Asset Management Asia Ltd (IAMA) has promoted Mark Konyn from associate director to director with special responsibility for marketing and business development. GREGORY Sirois has been appointed director of Seaunion Holdings Limited. Mr Sirois is a qualified chartered accountant and has more than 15 years' experience in the commercial and financial sector. AMERICAN Express International Inc has appointed Tammy McGarry as director of travel and Dave Keung as director of business partners. Ms McGarry, who has 17 years of experience in the travel industry in Hong Kong and Australia, will be responsible for the operation of American Express Travel Services in Hong Kong and the development of American Express' travel management services in China. Mr Keung will be responsible for leading the team's expansion of American Express' coverage in retail and service outlets in Hong Kong. PRICE Waterhouse has appointed Mandy Standing as director of the firm's tax practice. She will specialise in advising American expatriates on their personal taxation. Tsang Wah-kwong has been made a director of the Price Waterhouse Guangdong group where he has been working as a senior manager since last summer. Ng Kim-yoke has been made a director of the Beijing office where she has been working as a senior audit manager. BOEING has appointed Mike Zimmerman, formerly director of Boeing sales for Southeast Asia, as the firm's Beijing-based president of Boeing China. He will be responsible for overseeing all of Boeing's airline support sales and industrial activities in China. THE East Asia Aetna Insurance Group has appointed Bill Beaty as general manager of agency and marketing. Mr Beaty, who has been with one of East Asia Aetna's two parents, Aetna Life and Casualty, since 1973, will be responsible for expanding the East Asia Aetna sales force. EMIL Fung has been appointed executive director of corporate development of Centro Digital Pictures, a film production and video post-production firm in Hong Kong. He will help develop and position Centro into a production company ready for the upcoming multi-media home entertainment environment in Hong Kong and Asia. Mr Fung joined Centro from Wharf Communications Investments Ltd, the investment arm of the Wharf Group, where he was vice-president - commercial - of Wharf Communications and corporate finance director of Wharf Cable. OMNI The Hong Kong Hotel has appointed Vicky Chima as public relations manager. She was previously promotions manager of JJ's nightclub at the Hong Kong Grand Hyatt. EDELMAN Public Relations Worldwide has promoted Clara Shek to general manager, and Richard Tsang to deputy general manager in the Hong Kong office.
