OUTSTANDING Hong Kong and overseas artists will come together to present an exciting dance offering titled Six Dance Brocade .
The dance showcase, to be held from August 24 to 29 at the City Hall, celebrates the 15th anniversary of the founding of the City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC).
The show consists of two separate programmes featuring three CCDC dance classics and three specially commissioned works.
The first programme, on August 24 and 25, comprises Wanderings in the Cosmos, choreographed by Willy Tsao, the Hong Kong premiere of Folked Up by New York choreographer Sarah Skaggs, and the Rite of Spring by Helen Lai, danced to Stravinsky's exciting music score.
Wanderings captures the metaphysical world of the ancient Chinese philosopher Zhuangzi, while Folked Up is a representative piece from Sally Skaggs, an innovative choreographer who works in the latest American dance idioms.
Rite of Spring is a collage of images describing times of turbulence.
