SHENZHEN B shares were little changed in light trading yesterday, with two port operators accounting for 72 per cent of turnover.

  The Credit Lyonnais Shenzhen B Index fell 0.6 per cent to 1,162.22 points on trading worth HK$5.34 million.

   Three stocks fell, two rose and 18 were unchanged or not traded.

  The A Index rose 1.91 per cent to 1,227.93 points.

  Port operators Chiwan Wharf and Shekou Port dominated trading in B shares, closing unchanged at $4.50 and at $5.50 respectively.

  Shekou Port said its net profit for the six months to June 30 rose 26.6 per cent due to increased cargo and container throughput.

  Cargo and container throughput exceeded company targets by 56.3 per cent for Chiwan and 62.1 per cent for Shekou.

  Passengers serviced during the period totalled 1.5 million, just 37.3 per cent of the year target.

  The passenger drop ''is a concern and reflects lower traffic all round and the new traffic terminal at Shenzhen Airport'', said Johnson Cheung, an analyst with Credit Lyonnais Securities.
